More than 100 homes were damaged or destroyed by a wildfire in the southern part of Palm Bay, Florida, in mid-May 2008. Dry conditions—possibly abetted by arsonists, according to news reports— created a fire emergency in the state over the weekend of May 10, with more than a hundred fires breaking out.
This image of two fires (outlined in red) in central Florida was captured by the MODIS on the Terra satellite on May 13.
