August 27, 2008 - Tropical Depression Fay

Tropical Depression Fay

This image, captured by the MODIS on the Terra satellite, shows Tropical Depression Fay over the southeastern United States on August 24, 2008. The storm had been downgraded to a Tropical Depression only the evening before. As a Tropical Storm, Fay caused tremendous flooding in Florida. It made landfall there a record four times before it was finally downgraded to a Tropical Depression. This image shows the storm as it was on August 21.

Though it has been downgraded, Fay is still expected to cause heavy rain along the Gulf Coast, as it continues to move west northwest.
