September 6, 2008 - Tropical Storm Hanna

Tropical Storm Hanna

Tropical Storm Hanna is shown here on September 2, 2008 over Hispaniola and the Bahamas. This image was captured by the MODIS on the Aqua satellite. The storm caused flooding and landslides that killed about least 136 in Haiti, also leaving thousands homeless, according to the Telegraph. This area has been hard hit during this year's Hurricane season. According to Xingua, the week prior to Hanna, Hurricane Gustav killed at least 77 people in Haiti - and this only days after tropical storm Fay took 40 lives.

Hanna is now headed for the US, and could hit somewhere in North or South Carolina. Hurricane Ike is not far behind Hanna and may be a threat to the Caribbean Islands and the US, though it is expected to spare Haiti.
