Fall in the northern hemisphere means spring in the southern hemisphere - this is apparent in the vibrant greens in Tasmania. Tasmania is a forested island located about 150 miles (240 km) off the extreme southeastern tip of Australia. This image was captured by the MODIS on the Aqua satellite on November 7, 2009.

Tasmania is fairly large, measuring about 68,000 square kilometers (26,000 miles). It has a great deal of biological diversity, and over a third of the island is devoted to parks and reserves to protect and preserve it.
