Massive amounts of dust continued to blow off of West African on the afternoon of July 14, 2015. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Aqua satellite captured this true-color image at 15:10 UTC (3:10 p.m. local time) that same day.
The dust storm had been captured earlier that day by NASA’s Terra satellite, and was presented as the MODIS Image of the Day on June 25, 2015. To view the morning overpass of the same storm, go here: http://modis.gsfc.nasa.gov//gallery/individual.php?db_date=2015-06-25
