France

On April 17, 2018, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board NASA’s Terra satellite acquired a true-color view of a spring day over France.

The skies over southern France are clear, but gray patches of smoke and haze float over the skies both south of the city of Paris and to the north, while streaks formed by airplanes mark the skies over the English Channel. Snow caps the Pyrenes Mountains in the south and the Alps in the southeast. Various shades of green illustrate the spring greening across agricultural regions while forests remain darker green.
