Chris Justice

Biography:
Christopher O. Justice received his Ph.D. degree in geography from the University of Reading, Reading, U.K. in 1977. He became an NRC Post Doctoral Research Fellow at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Greenbelt, MD, in 1978. He then spent two years with the European Space Agency (ESA) at the Earthnet Programme Office, Frascati, Italy. In 1983, he returned to the United States and joined the University of Maryland, College Park. He was a Senior Research Scientist in the Geography Department working as part of with the Global Inventory Monitoring and Modeling Studies (GIMMS) Group at NASA/GSFC. He is currently a Research Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Virginia, Charlottesville. He is the MODIS land discipline leader. His research interests include the role of land cover and land use change in global change research, the role of fire in global change and natural resource management, global change and forest monitoring , the development of the EOS/MODIS land products.
