Terra Solid State Recorder Update
There is continuing activity related to the Terra Solid State Recorder (SSR). Material is being collected so that a briefing can be given to NASA Headquarters personnel concerning the loss of any more Printed Wire Assemblies (PWA’s). The object of the briefing is to present the status of PWA’s for Terra instruments including MODIS that is at the point of losing data if any more PWA’s fail. Options for how to deal with further losses are to be presented including the desired option of recycling the PWA’s to regain function—a procedure that has been used in the past and is considered to be low risk. Material is being provided to Dr. Marc Imhoff, the Terra Project Scientist.
