In a land filled with special places, the area known as the “Four Corners” is unique. Located in the American Southwest, this is the one place where the boundaries of four states touch. The quadripoint sits at the corners of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona, at about 37° north latitude and 109° 03' west longitude. A marker was placed at the site in 1992 stating, “Here meet in freedom under God four states”.
On January 3, 2025, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite acquired this false-color image of a wintertime scene at the Four Corners. In this type of false-color image, snow appears electric blue, clouds look white, open land is tan, and vegetation is brilliant green.
