After fading to a post-tropical cyclone on September 22, 2026, Tropical Storm Fay roared back to life by late on September 23. By the time the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite acquired this true-color image on September 24, Fay was carrying maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour (80.4 km/h) as it spun across the Atlantic Ocean.
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the storm may intensify slightly overnight but will meet with more difficult conditions in the next few days, which cause it to weaken. Tropical Storm Fay is expected to become a remnant low by September 27 and to dissipate over the Atlantic Ocean by September 29. It remains far from any land and is not expected to cause damage.
