Abstract
Evapotranspiration (ET) is one of the most crucial components in the hydrological cycle and in water management. In this study a temporal-spatial variation of crop ET based on Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) products is presented by using the Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) method. The results show that MODIS data provided satisfactory ET results in crop land area for the Hebei Plain in China. The average bias was 0.86 mm, the root mean square error (RMSE) was 1.2 mm and correlation (R-2) was 0.74, respectively. Annual variation of difference crops show that the ET is mainly affected by crop growth and irrigation regime. Spatial distribution of ET shows that the winter wheat-summer rotation system region is the highest water consumption, compared with other crops in Hebei Plain.
