Abstract
In order to reduce the influence of saturation of red spectrum under the normal vegetation condition, and improve the retrieval accuracy, the research takes the advantage of the reflectance & absorption with the spectral of NIR. SWIR to water, with the normalization of the reflectance between NIR and SWIR spectrum, the status of underlying surface can be retrieved in precision. In this paper, a new drought index was put forward-RINDWI(Reduced Infrared Normalized Difference Water Index) which based on the features of spectrum reflectance of RED. NIR. SWIR to crop canopy. With the validation, the result showed that the new index of RINDWI can reflect the soil water status better in normal vegetation condition, and it is a better choice in drought monitoring, and can take it into real business opposition.
