Abstract
Dynamic monitoring and driving factors of desertification are conducive to grasping the trend of desertification and providing theoretical support for desertification control. In this study, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data from 2001 to 2018 was used to calculate the Normalized Difference Desertification Index (NDDI). The combination of field survey data and MODIS-NDDI was used to acquire the desertification distribution. On this basis, spatiotemporal change of desertification and its driving factors were derived in Hebei Province. The results show that the desertification situation shows an improvement trend overall, but a degradation in some regions in Hebei Province. Precipitation is an important factor influencing desertification change. However, the relationship between desertification and temperature, wind speed is not obvious because of the complex interaction of other factors. The results of this study are useful to the desertification control and vegetation restoration in Hebei province. Meanwhile, it provides a theoretical basis for desertification monitoring in other regions.
