Tunisia and the Cape Bon Peninsula

The MODIS on the Aqua satellite captured this image of Tunisia on November 5, 2008. Tunisia is a country in North Africa. To its west is Algeria, and to the southeast, Libya. The body of water to the north is the Mediterranean Sea, which surrounds the island of Sicily, which is visible in the larger images, though it is beneath the cloud cover.

The Cape Bon Peninsula, which extends into the Mediterranean, is about 44 miles long and 25 miles wide. It separates the Gulf of Tunis (north) from the Gulf of Hammamet (south).
