November 15, 2008 - Dust Across the Arabian Sea

Dust Across the Arabian Sea

Translucent, tan dust blew across the Arabian Sea on November 13, 2008. Individual dust plumes coming off the coastline of Pakistan, as well as a cloud over the water, are visible in this image, captured by the MODIS on the Aqua satellite. There is some light dust also being blown off the coat of Iran (to the west). Along the Indian coastline, to the east, sediment colors the ocean water green-brown.

This region had a large dust storm in October, which you can view images of on Earth Observatory.
