Tropical Cyclone Oli

This image, captured by the MODIS on the Aqua satellite shows Tropical Cyclone Oli on February 4, 2010. At this time, it was off the coast of Tahiti. Two days prior, Oli was a tropical storm and had a lot more amorphous structure. In this image, it was near Bora Bora.

Oli caused at least one death in French Polynesia, along with power outages and a great deal of damage to buildings, according to ABC Radio Australia News. Winds of over 200 km/h (120 mph) were reported in Tahiti and surrounding islands. The death was a 40-year-old man who was swept by out to sea by the high waves being experience island of Tubuai in the Austral islands, which are south of Tahiti. Oli is expected to continue moving south towards the Austral islands.
