Biography:
Edward (Ned) Bair, Ph.D. is an Assistant Researcher at The Earth Research Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Management from The University of California, Santa Barbara in 2011. He studies snow hydrology and snow avalanches. His research focuses on energy balance modeling of the snowpack using satellite-based measurements. He is on the board of the American Avalanche Association and has authored over 30 publications on snow. He has also worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory, as an avalanche consultant, at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, and as a climbing guide.
