The Great Lakes

This image, captured by the MODIS on the Terra satellite on September 23, 2007, shows all five of the Great Lakes of the United States and Canada: (from top left to right) Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. The image shows portions of the mid-west region of the U.S. as well, including the Lower Peninsula of Michigan (between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron), the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Wisconsin (south of Lake Superior and west of Lake Michigan). Further south from west to east are Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

In some areas of the region, particularly to the north, some seasonal orange already colors the trees.
